Maurice Sklar founded the Del Gesu Chamber Music Society in 2014 with the vision to bring beautiful chamber music to the Central Coast under the glory of God. His love of chamber music began at an early age through his father who was a cellist. His father loved playing string quartets and would host gatherings with his friends quite often.
Maurice's musical studies began at the age of four. Maurice attended The Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School of Music and University of Houston. His teachers included Ivan Galamian, Dorothy Delay, Miss Fredell Lack, David Cerone, Felix Galimir and Harvey Olin. He has performed with many major orchestras and has numerous recordings. He won the Young Concert Artists auditions in 1986 and numerous other competition and awards. Maurice continues to tour worldwide and makes his home on the Central Coast of California. www.mauricesklar.com
